How do I choose the right folding tent?

Partyspace makes it very easy for you in the first place: with a folding tent from us you get nothing less than top quality. However, there are still some differences between the types of frames and roofs we offer. Which folding tent do I use when? Or which tent should I choose for my occasion? Don't worry, we'll be happy to help you out.

1 | Frame made of aluminium or steel

At Above & Beyond we sell frames made of steel or aluminium. First of all, let's take a closer look at the differences between the two frames. The aluminium frame has a wall thickness of 2.5 mm, whereas the wall thickness of the steel poles is only 1 mm. An aluminium frame has square poles, which are stronger than the hexagonal poles of our steel folding tents. A third important difference is in the connectors (the parts that connect two or more scissor elements). On our aluminium folding tents these connectors are made of full aluminium. On the steel frames, on the other hand, these connectors are made of plastic.

When should you buy which type of tent? The rule is logical: the more intensively you use the tent, the stronger the frame should be. If you use your tent (almost) every day as a market vendor, at festivals, flea markets, events or if you rent it out often, you should definitely go for aluminium. Do you use your tent only a few times a year or always indoors, for example as an exhibition stand? Then the steel version will be sufficient.

Beware! The sturdiness of the aluminium frame should not be a reason for less anchoring of this type of tent. Both folding tents with a steel and aluminium frame must always be sufficiently anchored.

The diagram below summarises everything:

2 | Polyester or PVC light roof fabric

Now you know which frame is best suited for the purpose of your tent. But what about the roof and side walls? Here, we also offer two variants. Roofs and side walls in polyester (with a PVC coating on the inside) look like a woven fabric and are completely waterproof, UV resistant and fire resistant.

PVC light has a slightly longer lifespan and is very easy to clean. It is a woven fabric that has a PVC coating on both sides and therefore looks smooth and even. PVC light is heavier than polyester (450 g/m² instead of 320 g/m²). PVC light roofs and side walls are only available in three colours: white, black and sand.

So far, you already know which frame to choose and the differences between the two types of roof. When choosing between polyester or PVC, a simple rule applies: if you will only use the tent for a short time (a few days or weeks), for example for a party, a barbecue or a stand at the (flea) market, then polyester is the right choice. However, if you want to leave your folding tent for a longer period (read: a few months - for example to cover a terrace for the whole summer), then it is recommended to go for PVC light.

This can be summarised as follows:

Polyester PVC light
Standard colours 18 possible colours white, black & sand
Weight of fabric 320 g/m² 450 g/m²
Use short-term (a few days/weeks) long-term (several months)
Waterproof yes yes
Fire resistant yes yes
UV-resistant yes yes
Printable yes yes

As you can read, our folding tents are widely deployable and moreover you can set them up in no time. With these guidelines in mind you can easily choose the right folding tent and you have no reason not to choose our folding tents.
