Grégoire Munster & Partyspace, a perfect match

19 November 2020 - Realisations

This weekend was supposed to be the pinnacle of the Belgian rally history, with ‘Renties Ypres Rally’ welcoming the FIA World Rally Championship. Unfortunately, the current circumstance decided otherwise. Not only Grégoire Munster was extremely looking forward to this, but also we were looking forward to seeing him and our beautiful Partyspace tents in action. We are a proud sponsor and like to present you Grégoire Munster!

From childhood to rally life

Grégoire Munster currently has the age of 21 and was passed the rally by teaspoon. The name will definitely ring amongst many people knowing a thing or two about rally sport, because his father ‘Bernard Munster’ is a well-known face since day and age.
Not only is his father truly rally passionate, also his brother and mother can be found in a race car from time to time. Either as a pilot or co-pilot.

The big rally adventure started back in 2017. The moment Grégoire turned 18 and got his driver’s licence, he started as a rally pilot. Only three years later, the R2 was swapped for an R5. This year is only the first year he’s doing a full participation within the R5 class.

Fun & adrenaline

The sport really runs through the ‘Munster’ vanes, however Grégoire decided willingly to go through with this. “What appeals to me the most is the combination of fun and adrenaline” according to Grégoire.

"It’s wonderful to see and have an audience alongside the road during different stages and get to meet them in the service area afterwards." Unfortunately, the atmosphere isn’t quite there due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Just like everyone else, Grégoire hopes this will all pass soon.

Also the adrenaline rush is something which Grégoire loves: “Due to the fact you can only discover the race track twice, it is impossible to learn the track by heart. The role of the co-pilot is therefore of major importance. He continuously gives you direction and how the road curves. Adding to this, the road type and condition have a huge impact on your performance and is really not something you can prepare for. Some improvisation is therefore necessary and key.

Making a living from a hobby

When Grégoire is not in or around his race car, he focusses on his studies ‘communication’ at the ‘Thomas More College’ in Mechelen.
However, the big dream of Grégoire is to hopefully dive for an official WRC team and make a living from his ‘hobby’. “There are only some 10 pilots who can actually make a living from what they’re doing, so the odds are rather low. This is also why it’s so important to enjoy every rally moment to the fullest. Luckily I can count on great and loyal sponsors which allow me to enjoy these moments more than once!” In any way, Grégoire will for sure look for a job which is rally related after finishing college: “This is just my world”.

The importance of a folding tent in rally

In rally sports, you don’t get to enjoy the facilities as known on a circuit and you have to create your own pits. On many occasions, this is in the middle of a city centre or large parking lot. Having a good or multiple folding tents then isn’t any excess of luxury. Next to the practical function, the tent also adds to the visibility. The car is properly placed in the spotlight and provides additional opportunities for hospitality.

Of course, it’s an added value if you can copy paste the colour(s) of your car and sponsors on the tent and create a beautiful setting. This is also an additional advantage working with Above & Beyond: “You not only have the folding tents, but also flags, banners, tables and all of this can get personalised. You can really go all the way.

The quality of the tents is just superb! We’ve been using them for different years now and they keep on going. The Above & Beyond team and service are great to work with too. Fast, flexible and understanding the needs”, Grégoire explains.

That’s what we love to hear and why we do this!
